Study of trees

The art of Shinrin-yoku which is the Japanese practices of still quiet amongst the trees observing nature around you. It is hard to sit still as i like to sketch and take photographs. But I am fascinated by how the trees are connected to our environment and their surroundings.

Walking around Leeds and my love of sketching and a fascination with nature . Trees have seen so much history they been shaped and moulded by the environment around them Dry point is a printmaking technique using a hard-pointed needle to engrave an image onto a recycled acetate sheet. I also using other tools to make marks on the surface like sandpaper ,wire brush or abrasive tools to create interesting textures and impression of shading. Next stage is the artistic phase of rub coloured ink into marks on the plate and rubbing off the excess ink. His process can give different effects depending on how much ink I rub off and how much polishing you do. These original prints are signed and numbered are part of limited edition 10 prints of each image

Harewood house is a country house near Leeds with a large garden designed by Lancelot Brown between 1758 and 1772. There is a Japanese garden with an old maple tree with its twisted branches and red brown leaves.

Woodcut tree prints

All the prints are hand drawn and hand carved using traditional tools. They are hand inked using oil based ink and printed using a wooden / metal spoon to burnish them. The printing process is done wet on the multi block so the colours infuse and gives a textural finish to the print.
This means that every print is original and unique; they are signed and a part of a limited edition.
